Whenever you are planning a family trip to any foreign land, it is always better to know all the necessary tips and tricks that would help you during the journey. And it becomes much more important when you are traveling to an altogether different land with different culture, traditions, social manners and eating habits. And that is why when you are planning China family tours with your loved ones and friends, it is better to avoid the culture shock and do a bit of research before you board the flight. And that is where we are going to help you out. Today we are going to discuss a few tips that will help you while you are visiting Chinese mainland. Let us go through them one by one.
1. Nodding or shaking hands are both the quite acceptable ways of greeting. For “hello”, you can use the phrase “nǐ hǎo” and “xiè xiè” for “thank you”.
2. While you are eating out in restaurants, taking a spa or riding in a local cab, there is no requirement to pay a tip. However, tipping the guides or bellhops is completely fine.
3. When you are accessing the Internet in China, always take care that there are several domains and apps which are blocked by the authorities and that can hinder your connection back home, especially by email and messenger. Some of these apps include Google (all its apps), YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, some of the major news apps and Instagram.
4. It is better to skip the tap water while you are out in the markets. Well, fret not, you can easily purchase bottled water at the local stores or restaurants.
5. While you are in mainland China, get accustomed to spoons and chopsticks. Always remember never to leave the chopsticks in a sitting upright position as it signifies death. Moreover, don’t frown if you see anybody chewing loudly, slurping or burping as it is acceptable and is considered the signs of appreciation.
With that being said, these are only a handful of the many tips and tricks that will definitely help you appreciate your time on a China family tour.
